The former mansion of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in the French Quarter of New Orleans has been sold for $2.8 million.

The historic 2,348-square-foot mansion, which also belonged to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, was auctioned off in December, with the hammer falling on a winning bid of $2.8 million.

“The campaign resulted in nearly 1,000 inquiries from potential buyers and recorded 12 bidders participating in the auction,” said Scott Kirk, president and CEO of Interluxe Auctions, which managed the sale.

At the close of last week, “the sale broke the record for the highest sale of a single-family home in the French Quarter in over a year,” he added.

Built in the 1830s, the seven-bedroom property, which was last listed on the market for $3.475 million, features contemporary interiors equipped with amenities such as hardwood floors, high ceilings, window walls, Venetian plaster walls, a grand spiral staircase, and fireplaces with marble mantels.

There is a chef’s kitchen with a large butcher block island and a custom marble pantry, a home gym, an elevator, a workshop, and a gas-lit carriage-style gated entrance. There are also numerous balconies, a private courtyard with a pool and fountain, and a two-story guest house.

The buyer could not be identified because the deed of sale has not yet reached public records.

The once-powerful ex-couple Pitt and Jolie owned the property for a decade, from 2006 to 2016, when Jolie filed for divorce, according to records.

Allen, the tech tycoon who died in 2018, owned the property after the duo, and recording engineer Cosimo Matassa, responsible for many R&B records and early rock ‘n’ roll records, had his studio there previously, reported Mansion Global.
